OnePlus has been balancing performance with practical design for its mid-range North series in India in recent years. While the phone has enough power and performance to provide a smooth software experience, the brand has scaled back in some areas such as design and cameras to make it available at the right and competitive price. Some of this will change with the upcoming model, which is currently called Nord 4. The Nord 4, which is set to be announced at the upcoming OnePlus Global event on July 16, has been revealed in some new leaks that reveal a new design for the OnePlus sub-brand.
The key among the numerous design leaks that have surfaced online is an X-post from @OnePlusClub, which shows the phone in all its glory and reportedly all the color combinations in which the brand plans to launch it. It has a two-tone mint green finish, a two-tone silver finish and a plain black.
The silver finish also seems to have a textured back with large grooves. The green and black color variants have perfectly flat back surfaces with beveled corners in front of the flat sides. The three surfaces show the new design language with a new camera design. The latter now has two horizontally oriented cameras with LED flash modules, which are located in the same plane, but at a distance.
The new leaks (embedded above) and OnePlus’ own preview also suggest the use of metal for the upcoming versions, which will also include the Nord 4. Other recently revealed live images of the same phone clearly show a U-shaped metal unibody cover in which the back panel is integrated, leaving an opening at the top around the cameras.
In fact, it will be very interesting to see what the final smartphone looks like, as it brings back memories of previous years when phones often used all-metal designs (despite reception problems) that meant “premium quality”. By the way, the OnePlus Nord 4 shown in these pictures reminds us of the Pixel 2 series and the Pixel 3 series (released between 2017 and 2018).
The OnePlus Nord 4 is said to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 + Gen 3 SoC, according to an earlier report. The device could have a 6.74-inch OLED display with a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz. The phone is supposed to have a 50-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 16-megapixel camera for selfies. The device is expected to be powered by a 5500 mAh battery and probably supports 100 watts of wired fast charging.
