There are a lot of thin and light laptops on the market today, but most of them do not offer a dedicated GPU. Of course, you will find some exceptions, such as the HP Omen Transcend 14 (review) or the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, but the options are not too many. Keyword the new Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i, updated with Intel Core Ultra CPUs and Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 GPUs. You will get a similar design to an ultrabook, but enough power to run games and other creative tasks.
I had to try the Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i for about a week, where I tested the laptop for work, as well as some light games. Is this a good portable workstation that can also serve as a slot machine? Keep reading to find out.

This is the device that Lenovo sent us for review (model number 14IMH9), but with 32 GB of RAM, and the company stated that more variants should be available soon.
Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i review: design and display
In terms of design, the Yoga Pro 7i looks the same as the previous year’s model. It acquires curved edges, which facilitates the transportation of the device. The laptop has an aluminum cover, which, according to Lenovo, has been tested according to MIL-STD-810H standards. This means that you can assume that the laptop will withstand small drops and will not suffer any damage. The lid and the bottom are made of aluminum and did not have much bending. The lid has a minimal marking with only lower housing grilles for the input, two speakers and rubber feet. The laptop weighs about 1.6 kg.
The laptop has a 180-degree hinge that allows you to place the laptop on the table. The hinge feels robust, but offers no lift at all. When opening the lid, a 14.5-inch glossy screen with thin side borders and relatively thicker upper and lower bezels becomes visible. At the top there is an inverted notch, inside of which there is a webcam, an infrared sensor and microphones. It is very easy to open the lid with one hand.
Under the screen there is a keyboard, which is lined on both sides by two more speakers. The laptop has a total of four speakers. A large trackpad is located under the keyboard, and it’s nice. In the lower right corner there is an engraved Lenovo logo.
On the right edge there is a USB Type-A connector (3.2 Gen 1), a combined 3.5 mm audio jack, a power button and a lever for the electronic shutter of the webcam. On the left edge you will find two USB Type-C ports (3.2 Gen 2) and one HDMI 2.1 port. However, it loses a card slot.
Lenovo offers a really nice display for the Yoga Pro 7i. It’s a glossy panel, which means you can’t really use it well outdoors, but the panel is great indoors and offers good brightness levels. Our review unit came with a 14.5-inch OLED display that offers a resolution of 2.8 K (2,880 x 1,800), a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a brightness of 400 nits. The display is compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR, True Black 500 and covers a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. The colors are vivid and deep black. In a room without intense lighting, it was a pleasure to watch content on this screen.

Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i review: keyboard, touchpad, speaker and camera
The Yoga Pro 7i’s keyboard has buttons with good space and enough travel to make typing comfortable. However, there is no numeric key here, but you will receive the new Copilot key, which will allow you to enter the Microsoft chatbot. The keyboard is backlit and you can control the brightness manually or leave it in adaptive mode.
If you go down, you will find a large touchpad that provides an excellent response, soft to the touch thanks to the glass surface and provides multitouch support. Feedback on clicks is also good. I had no problems with the trackpad or keyboard during my time with the laptop.
